Hydrogen, A Viable Alternative To Fossil Fuels ©February 20th 2019

Advancements in geo-thermal power development are soon to put HAVAFF within reach. When the elder Mr. Ballard (of Ballard Power Systems) was alive, his thinking was for nuclear power to supply the needed electricity to produce hydrogen. My thinking is geo-thermal since it is safer and cleaner; not to mention cost conscious. New developments out of Iceland are proving interesting.

Instead of drilling down the standard 2 km, they have tested a well to a 5km depth. At the depth of 5 km, they can tap into what they call “supercritical steam” believing it has up to 10x the power yield. At that depth and geothermal temperature water becomes neither liquid nor vapor, hence the name; supercritical steam. This latest research has been going on for a good number of years and further work is scheduled for 2020. Iceland achieved their supercritical target in 2017, so stay tuned!

For your own research just say, Hey Google… “geothermal supercritical steam”.

HAVAFF MATES!
